Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall,  Haman was falling on the couch  where Esther was reclining. The king exclaimed, ‘Would he actually violate the queen while I am in the house? ’ As soon as the statement left the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

They were hitting him on the head with a stick and spitting on him. Getting down on their knees,  they were paying him homage.


When he had said these things, one of the officials standing by slapped Jesus, saying, ‘Is this the way you answer the high priest? ’


And they kept coming up to him  and saying, ‘Hail, king of the Jews! ’ and were slapping his face.


The high priest Ananias ordered those who were standing next to him to strike him on the mouth.


keeping our eyes on Jesus,  the pioneer and perfecter  of our faith. For the joy that lay before him,  he endured the cross, despising the shame,  and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
