And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.


And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.


Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.


Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.


Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, And thou shalt pay thy vows.


And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.


O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come.


Iniquities prevail against me: As for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.


Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;


And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.


Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.


And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.


and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.


And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
