When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.


Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me these two times. He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Then he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”


until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereft of you both in one day?”


he said, “Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be to his brothers.”


With him are strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are his.


“Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord with slackness, and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from bloodshed.


Cursed be the cheat who has a male in his flock, and vows it, and yet sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished. For I am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and my name will be feared among the nations.


through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true;


“‘Cursed be anyone who misleads a blind man on the road.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’


Abstain from every form of evil.
