1 Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. A disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek.

For they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has mixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”


Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed.


When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,


they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country,


Then the brothers immediately sent Paul off on his way to the sea, but Silas and Timothy remained there.


When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus.


And having sent into Macedonia two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.


Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you; so do Lucius and Jason and Sosipater, my kinsmen.


When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am.


That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church.


For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.
