Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion-geber.


For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”


But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.


He joined him in building ships to go to Tarshish, and they built the ships in Ezion-geber.


Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.


For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Hiram. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.


Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.


Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.”


For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”


Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
