And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth),


Therefore he brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of the Assyrians. And they took Manasses, and carried him bound with chains and fetters to Babylon.


He also shall open their ear, to correct them: and shall speak, that they may return from iniquity.


Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayst be wise in thy latter end.


What is there that I ought to do more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? Was it that I looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it hath brought forth wild grapes?


And he said: Surely they are my people, children that will not deny. So he became their saviour.


But they did not hear nor incline their ear: but hardened their neck, that they might not hear me and might not receive instruction.


When he said: Return ye, every one from his evil way and from your wicked devices: and you shall dwell in the land which the Lord hath given to you and your fathers for ever and ever.


If so be, when the house of Juda shall hear all the evils that I purpose to do unto them, that they may return every man from his wicked way: and I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.


And Jeremias said to Sedecias: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: If thou wilt take a resolution and go out to the princes of the king of Babylon, thy soul shall live and this city shall not be burnt with fire: and thou shalt be safe and thy house.


Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate, a land uninhabited.


I will dwell with you in this place: in the land, which I gave to your fathers from the beginning and for evermore.


I attended and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good. There is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.


They have sinned deeply, as in the days of Gabaa: he will remember their iniquity, and will visit their sin.


She hath not hearkened to the voice, neither hath she received discipline: she hath not trusted in the Lord, she drew not near to her God.


Lest perhaps being deceived you might make you a graven similitude, or image of male or female,


Now the end of the commandment is charity, from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and an unfeigned faith.


The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance.
