Let me alone, that my wrath may be enkindled against them, and that I may destroy them: and I will make of thee a great nation.


Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou sworest by thy own self, saying: I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven; and this whole land that I have spoken of I will give to you seed; and you shall possess it for ever.


And I am not troubled, following thee for my pastor: and I have not desired the day of man, thou knowest. That which went out of my lips hath been right in thy sight.


Shall evil be rendered for good, because they have digged a pit for my soul? Remember that I have stood in thy sight, to speak good for them and turn away thy indignation from them.


Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children as the bird doth her brood under her wings, and thou wouldest not?


But I receive not testimony from man: but I say these things, that you may be saved.


For I bear them witness, that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.


As it is written: Behold I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and a rock of scandal; and whosoever believeth in him shall not be confounded.


And far from me be this sin against the Lord, that I should cease to pray for you. And I will teach you the good and right way.


It repenteth me that I have made Saul king: for he hath forsaken me, and hath not executed my commandments. And Samuel was grieved, and he cried unto the Lord all night.


And Samuel saw Saul no more till the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul, because the Lord repented that he had made him king over Israel.
