Contempt was poured forth upon their princes: and he caused them to wander where there was no passing, and out of the way.


Who alone doth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.


Come, children, hearken to me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.


Let not the tempest of water drown me, nor the deep swallow me up: and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.


He struck the rock in the wilderness: and gave them to drink, as out of the great deep.


And let them trust in thee who know thy name: for thou hast not forsaken them that seek thee, O Lord.


Sing ye to the Lord, who dwelleth in Sion: declare his ways among the Gentiles:


In thy mercy thou hast been a leader to the people which thou hast redeemed: and in thy strength thou hast carried them to thy holy habitation.


Let fear and dread fall upon them, in the greatness of thy arm; let them become unmoveable as a stone, until thy people, O Lord, pass by: until this thy people pass by, which thou hast possessed.


And now they that are redeemed by the Lord, shall return, and shall come into Sion singing praises: and joy everlasting shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness: sorrow and mourning shall flee away.


And they shall call them: The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord. But thou shalt be called: A city sought after and not forsaken.


Upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen, all the day and all the night: they shall never hold their peace. You that are mindful of the Lord, hold not your peace,


Why hast thou made us to err, O Lord, from thy ways. Why hast thou hardened our heart, that we should not fear thee? Return for the sake of thy servants, the tribes of thy inheritance.


In all their affliction he was not troubled: and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love, and in his mercy he redeemed them: and he carried them and lifted them up all the days of old.


The portion of Jacob is not like these: for it is he who formed all things and Israel is the rod of his inheritance. The Lord of hosts is his name.


The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he that made all things he it is, and Israel is the sceptre of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name.


Take heed to yourselves, and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.


But the Lord's portion is his people: Jacob the lot of his inheritance.


But the Lord hath taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace of Egypt, to make you his people of inheritance, as it is this present day.


And praying, I said: O Lord God, destroy not thy people, and thy inheritance, which thou hast redeemed in thy greatness, whom thou hast brought out of Egypt with a strong hand.


Who are thy people and thy inheritance, whom thou hast brought out by thy great strength, and in thy stretched-out arm.


Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.


And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.
