Gather yourselves together, and hear, O ye sons of Jacob: hearken to Israel your father.


Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.


To know wisdom, and instruction:


My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:


A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayst be wise in thy latter end.


Incline thy ear, and hear the words of the wise: and apply thy heart to my doctrine:


My son, attend to my wisdom, and incline thy ear to my prudence.


Say to wisdom: Thou art my sister: and call prudence thy friend,


Therefore we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all things that he commanded us: so as to drink no wine all our days, neither we, nor our wives, nor our sons, nor our daughters:


Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard, lest perhaps we should let them slip.
