He shall restore the ewe fourfold: because he did this thing, and had no pity.


And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.


If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor, that dwelleth with thee: thou shalt not be hard upon them as an extortioner, nor oppress them with usuries.


The good man leaveth heirs, sons, and grandsons: and the substance of the sinner is kept for the just.


He that despiseth his neighbour, sinneth: but he that sheweth mercy to the poor, shall be blessed. He that believeth in the Lord, loveth mercy.


He that oppresseth the poor, upbraideth his Maker: but he that hath pity on the poor, honoureth him.


The brethren of the poor man hate him: moreover also his friends have departed far from him. He that followeth after words only, shall have nothing.


God hath given to a man that is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he hath given vexation, and superfluous care, to heap up and to gather together, and to give it to him that hath pleased God: but this also is vanity, and a fruitless solicitude of the mind.


That giveth upon usury and that taketh an increase: shall such a one live? He shall not live. Seeing he hath done all these detestable things, he shall surely die: his blood shall be upon him.


That hath turned away his hand from injuring the poor, hath not taken usury and increase: but hath executed my judgments and hath walked in my commandments: this man shall not die for the iniquity of his father, but living he shall live.


Hath not lent upon usury, nor taken any increase: hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity and hath executed true judgment between man and man:


Take not usury of him nor more than thou gavest. Fear thy God, that thy brother may live with thee.
