At that time also I said to the people: Let every one with his servant stay in the midst of Jerusalem; and let us take our turns in the night, and by day, to work.


Now there was a great cry of the people, and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.


Moreover I built in the work of the wall; and I bought no land; and all my servants were gathered together to the work.


I commanded Hanani my brother, and Hananias ruler of the house of Jerusalem, (for he seemed as a sincere man, and one that feared God above the rest)


No one shall press upon his brother: they shall walk every one in his path: yea, and they shall fall through the windows, and shall take no harm.


But by the grace of God, I am what I am; and his grace in me hath not been void, but I have laboured more abundantly than all they: yet not I, but the grace of God with me.


Where the chariots were dashed together, and the army of the enemies was choked, there let the justices of the Lord be rehearsed, and his clemency towards the brave men of Israel. Then the people of the Lord went down to the gates, and obtained the sovereignty.


Went up into mount Selmon he and all his people with him. And taking an axe, he cut down the bough of a tree, and laying it on his shoulder and carrying it, he said to his companions: What you see me do, do you out of hand.
