For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall carry to the treasury the first-fruits of corn, of wine, and of oil. And the sanctified vessels shall be there, and the priests, and the singing men, and the porters, and ministers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.


And I rebuked the chief men of Juda, and said to them: What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the sabbath day?


And I chid them, and laid my curse upon them. And I beat some of them, and shaved off their hair, and made them swear by God that they would not give their daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for their sons, nor for themselves, saying:


If I have been afraid at a very great multitude, and the contempt of kinsmen hath terrified me: and I have not rather held my peace, and not gone out of the door:


They that forsake the law, praise the wicked man: they that keep it, are incensed against him.


Wherefore the sin of the young men was exceeding great before the Lord: because they withdrew men from the sacrifice of the Lord.
