IN that day, the Lord with his hard and great and strong sword shall visit leviathan the bar serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent: and shall slay the whale that is in the sea.


And behold they cried out, saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?


And when he was come forth to the land, there met him a certain man who had a devil now a very long time, and he wore no clothes, neither did he abide in a house, but in the sepulchres.


For he commanded the unclean spirit to go out of the man. For many times it seized him, and he was bound with chains, and kept in fetters; and breaking the bonds, he was driven by the devil into the deserts.


Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble.


For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:


He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil.


And the false prophet shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
