Thus saith the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to the soul that is despised, to the nation that is abhorred, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see, and princes shall rise up, and adore for the Lord's sake, because he is faithful, and for the Holy One of Israel who hath chosen thee.


As many have been astonished at thee, so shall his visage be inglorious among men and his form among the sons of men.


Despised and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised. Whereupon we esteemed him not.


Now shalt thou be laid waste, O daughter of the robber: they have laid siege against us, with a rod shall they strike the cheek of the judge of Israel.


And Peter going out, wept bitterly.


The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.


And when he had said these things, one of the servants standing by, gave Jesus a blow, saying: Answerest thou the high priest so?


Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God.


Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not: but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly.
