But the king said to him: I adjure thee again and again, that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord.


If any man trespass against his neighbour, and have an oath upon him, wherewith he is bound: and come because of the oath before thy altar to thy house:


And the king said: I adjure thee again and again to say nothing but the truth to me, in the name of the Lord.


My heart grew hot within me: and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.


There shall be an oath between them, that he did not put forth his hand to his neighbour's goods. And the owner shall accept of the oath: and he shall not be compelled to make restitution.


He that is partaker with a thief, hateth his own soul: he heareth one putting him to his oath, and discovereth not.


Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.


Because his soul hath laboured, he shall see and be filled. By his knowledge shall this my just servant justify many: and he shall bear their iniquities.


Because the land is full of adulterers, because the land hath mourned by reason of cursing. The fields of the desert are dried up, and their course is become evil, and their strength unlike.


The soul that sinneth, the same shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, and the father shall not bear the iniquity of the son. The justice of the just shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.


Behold, all souls are mine: as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, the same shall die.


But if he do not wash his clothes, and his body, he shall bear his iniquity.


And shall bear his iniquity, because he hath defiled the holy thing of the Lord. And that soul shall perish from among his people.


If any man take his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother, and see her nakedness, and she behold her brother's shame: they have committed a crime. They shall be slain, in the sight of their people, because they have discovered one another's nakedness. And they shall bear their iniquity.


Say to the children of Israel: The soul that sinneth through ignorance, and doth any thing concerning any of the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded not to be done:


If any one shall sin through mistake, transgressing the ceremonies in those things that are sacrificed to the Lord, he shall offer for his offence a ram without blemish out of the flocks, that may be bought for two sicles, according to the weight of the sanctuary.


If any one sin through ignorance, and do one of those things which by the law of the Lord are forbidden, and being guilty of sin, understand his iniquity:


If any man eat of the flesh of the victim of peace-offerings on the third day, the oblation shall be of no effect: neither shall it profit the offerer. Yea rather, whatsoever soul shall defile itself with such meat shall be guilty of transgression.


But if any man is clean, and was not on a journey, and did not make the phase, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Because he offered not sacrifice to the Lord in due season, he shall bear his sin.


But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us if thou be the Christ the Son of God.


Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.


Who said to his mother: The eleven hundred pieces of silver, which thou hadst put aside for thyself, and concerning which thou didst swear in my hearing, behold, I have, and they are with me. And she said to him: Blessed be my son by the Lord.
