That you be not bowed down under the bond, and fall with the slain? In all these things his anger is not turned away: but his hand is stretched out still.


Every one that shall be found shall be slain: and every one that shall come to their aid shall fall by the sword.


But thou art cast out of thy grave, as an unprofitable branch, defiled, and wrapped up among them that were slain by the sword: and art gone down to the bottom of the pit, as a rotten carcass.


A thousand men shall flee for fear of one: and for fear of five shall you flee, till you be left, as the mast of a ship on the top of a mountain and as an ensign upon a hill.


For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the Lord. It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.


And the Chaldeans that fight against this city shall come and set it on fire and burn it, with the houses upon whose roofs they offered sacrifice to Baal and poured out drink-offerings to strange gods, to provoke me to wrath.


Jeremias went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin: and to divide a possession there in the presence of the citizens.


Thus saith the Lord: Deceive not your souls, saying: The Chaldeans shall surely depart and go away from us: for they shall not go away.


Therefore hear ye the counsel of the Lord which he hath taken concerning Edom and his thoughts which he hath thought concerning the inhabitants of Theman. Surely the little ones of the flock shall cast them down: of a truth they shall destroy them with their habitation.


Therefore, hear ye the counsel of the Lord which he hath taken against Babylon and his thoughts which he hath thought against the land of the Chaldeans. Surely the little ones of the flocks shall pull them down: of a truth their habitation shall be destroyed with them.


And the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans and the wounded in the regions thereof.


Samech. The Lord hath taken away all my mighty men out of the midst of me: he hath called against me the time, to destroy my chosen men: the Lord hath trodden the winepress for the virgin daughter of Juda.


And the Lord hath uttered his voice before the face of his army: for his armies are exceeding great, for they are strong and execute his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible: and who can stand it?
