Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that shall take the name of the Lord his God in vain.


But afterwards they turned, and brought back again their servants and their handmaids, whom they had let go free, and brought them into subjection as men-servants and maid-servants.


Because with lies you have made the heart of the just to mourn, whom I have not made sorrowful: and have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his evil way and live.


But if the just man turn himself away from his justice and do iniquity according to all the abominations which the wicked man useth to work, shall he live? All his justices which he hath done shall not be remembered: in the prevarication by which he hath prevaricated and in his sin which he hath committed, in them he shall die.


And as for you, O house of Israel: thus saith the Lord God: Walk ye every one after your idols and serve them. But if in this also you hear me not, but defile my holy name any more with your gifts and with your idols;


Moreover, if the just man shall turn away from his justice and shall commit iniquity: I will lay a stumbling-block before him. He shall die, because thou hast not given him warning. He shall die in his sin and his justices which he hath done shall not be remembered. But I will require his blood at thy hand.


And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and my holy name shall be profaned no more: and the Gentiles shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.


Thou shalt not swear falsely by my name, nor profane the name of thy God. I am the Lord.


And you have profaned it in that you say: The table of the Lord is defiled: and that which is laid thereupon is contemptible with the fire that devoureth it.


To you, O priests, that despise my name, and have said: Wherein have we despised thy name? You offer polluted bread upon my altar, and you say: Wherein have we polluted thee? In that you say: The table of the Lord is contemptible.


It repenteth me that I have made Saul king: for he hath forsaken me, and hath not executed my commandments. And Samuel was grieved, and he cried unto the Lord all night.
