And he heard my prayers, and brought me out of the pit of misery and the mire of dregs. And he set my feet upon a rock, and directed my steps.


Are not my words as a fire, saith the Lord, and as a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?


To the prophets: My heart is broken within me, all my bones tremble: I am become as a drunken man, and as a man full of wine, at the presence of the Lord and at the presence of his holy words.


My bowels, my bowels, are in pain, the senses of my heart are troubled within me. I will not hold my peace, for my soul hath heard the sound of the trumpet, the cry of battle.


Therefore am I full of the fury of the Lord, I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the child abroad and upon the council of the young men together: for man and woman shall be taken, the ancient and he that is full of days.


The spirit also lifted me and took me up: and I went away in bitterness in the indignation of my spirit: for the hand of the Lord was with me, strengthening me.


And he said to me: Son of man, thy belly shall eat, and thy bowels shall be filled with this book which I give thee. And I did eat it: and it was sweet as honey in my mouth.


The lion shall roar, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken, who shall not prophesy?


Arise, and go to Ninive the great city, and preach in it: for the wickedness thereof is come up before me.


And Jonas rose up to flee into Tharsis from the face of the Lord, and he went down to Joppe, and found a ship going to Tharsis: and he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them to Tharsis from the face of the Lord.


Jesus said to him: No man putting his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
