Nor shall the sight of man behold me: thy eyes are upon me, and I shall be no more.


Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.


I have put my words in thy mouth and have protected thee in the shadow of my hand, that thou mightest plant the heavens and found the earth and mightest say to Sion: Thou art my people.


There is none that can uphold her among all the children that she hath brought forth: and there is none that taketh her by the hand among all the children that she hath brought up.


Enlarge the place of thy tent and stretch out the skins of thy tabernacles. Spare not: lengthen thy cords and strengthen thy stakes.


For I will close up thy scar and will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord: because they have called thee, O Sion, an outcast: This is she that hath none to seek after her.


Thus saith the Lord: A voice was heard on high of lamentation, of mourning and weeping, of Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted for them, because they are not.


Destruction upon destruction is called for, and all the earth is laid waste: my tents are destroyed on a sudden and my pavilions in a moment.


He. Her adversaries are become her lords, her enemies are enriched: because the Lord hath spoken against her for the multitude of her iniquities: her children are led into captivity, before the face of the oppressor.


You have cast out the women of my people from their houses, in which they took delight: you have taken my praise for ever from their children.
