Wherefore Hanon took the servants of David, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut away half of their garments even to the buttocks, and sent them away.


Wherefore Hanon shaved the heads and beards of the servants of David, and cut away their garments from the buttocks to the feet, and sent them away.


Then Job rose up, and rent his garments: and having shaven his head fell down upon the ground and worshipped,


Howl, O gate: cry, O city. All Philistia is thrown down: for a smoke shall come from the north, and there is none that shall escape his troop.


In their streets they are girded with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets all shall howl and come down weeping.


And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is wearied on his high places, that he shall go in to his sanctuaries to pray, and shall not prevail.


Therefore shall Moab howl to Moab: every one shall howl. To them that rejoice upon the brick walls, tell ye their stripes.


And the Lord, the God of hosts, in that day shall call to weeping and to mourning: to baldness and to girding with sackcloth.


And instead of a sweet smell, there shall be stench: and instead of a girdle, a cord. And instead of curled hair, baldness: and instead of a stomacher, haircloth.


A voice was heard in the highways, weeping and howling of the children of Israel: because they have made their way wicked, they have forgotten the Lord their God.


Thus saith the Lord: Behold, there come up waters out of the north, and they shall be as an overflowing torrent. And they shall cover the land, and all that is therein, the city and the inhabitants thereof. Then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl,


Baldness is come upon Gaza: Ascalon hath held her peace with the remnant of their valley. How long shalt thou cut thyself?


Against Moab, thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nabo, for it is laid waste and confounded: Cariathaim is taken: the strong city is confounded and hath trembled.


Come down from thy glory and sit in thirst, O dwelling of the daughter of Dibon: because the spoiler of Moab is come up to thee, he hath destroyed thy bulwarks.


Therefore will I lament for Moab and I will cry out to all Moab for the men of the brick wall that mourn.


And I will take away from Moab, saith the Lord, him that offereth in the high places and that sacrificeth to his gods.


Howl, O Hesebon, for Hai is wasted. Cry, ye daughters of Rabbath, gird yourselves with haircloth, mourn and go about by the hedges: for Melchom shall be carried into captivity, his priests and his princes together.


Cut off thy (hair), and cast it away: and take up a lamentation on high: for the Lord hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath,


And they shall shave themselves bald for thee and shall be girded with haircloth: and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of soul, with most bitter weeping.


Son of man prophesy, and say: Thus saith the Lord God: Howl ye, Woe, woe to the day:


And they shall gird themselves with haircloth, and fear shall cover them, and shame shall be upon every face and baldness upon all their heads.


The man whose hair falleth off from his head, he is bald and clean:


Neither shall they shave their head, nor their beard, nor make incisions in their flesh.


And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation: and I will bring up sackcloth upon every back of yours, and baldness upon every head: and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the latter end thereof as a bitter day.


A fire is gone out of Hesebon, a flame from the city of Sehon, and hath consumed Ar of the Moabites, and the inhabitants of the high places of the Arnon.


Their yoke is perished from Hesebon unto Dibon. They came weary to Nophe, and unto Medaba.


Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nemra, Hesebon, and Eleale, and Saban, and Nebo, and Beon:


And Nabo, and Baalmeon (their names being changed) and Sabama: giving names to the cities which they had built.


Be ye children of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness for the dead;


Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab upon mount Nebo, to the top of Phasga over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Galaad as far as Dan,
