Abram passed through the country into the place of Sichem, as far as the noble vale. Now the Chanaanite was at that time in the land.


And I will make it desolate. It shall not be pruned and it shall not be digged: but briers and thorns shall come up. And I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.


And the Lord will give thee rest continually and will fill thy soul with brightness and deliver thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden and like a fountain of water whose waters shall not fail


Thou hast met him that rejoiceth and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee. Behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always and we shall be saved.


And we are all become as one unclean: and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman. And we have all fallen as a leaf: and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.


And they shall come and shall give praise in mount Sion: and they shall flow together to the good things of the Lord, for the corn and wine and oil and the increase of cattle and herds. And their soul shall be as a watered garden: and they shall be hungry no more.


And all the trees of the country shall know that I, the Lord, have brought down the high tree and exalted the low tree: and have dried up the green tree and have caused the dry tree to flourish. I, the Lord, have spoken and have done it.


And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only, and he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.
