And David said: Solomon my son is very young and tender, and the house which I would have to be built to the Lord must be such as to be renowned in all countries; therefore I will prepare him necessaries. And therefore before his death he prepared all the charges.


And they sung together hymns, and praise to the Lord: because he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever towards Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, praising the Lord, because the foundations of the temple of the Lord were laid.


But many of the priests and the Levites, and the chief of the fathers and the ancients that had seen the former temple, when they had the foundation of this temple before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. And many shouting for joy, lifted up their voice.


The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert; Sion is made a desert; Jerusalem is desolate.


And they have turned the ornament of their jewels into pride and have made of it the images of their abominations and idols: therefore I have made it an uncleanness to them.


The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.
