And king Joas did not remember the kindness that Joiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said: The Lord see, and require it.


And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.


But the rest of the multitude of the people slew them that had killed Amon: and made Josias his son king in his stead.


Sing ye to the Lord, who dwelleth in Sion: declare his ways among the Gentiles:


He that striketh a man with a will to kill him shall be put to death.


Thou shalt not be a detractor nor a whisperer among the people. Thou shalt not stand against the blood of thy neighbour. I am the Lord.


He that striketh and killeth a man: dying let him die.


He that striketh a beast shall render another. He that striketh a man shall be punished.


If any man strike with iron, and he die that was struck: he shall be guilty of murder, and he himself shall die.


If he throw a stone, and he that is struck die: he shall be punished in the same manner.


If he that is struck with wood die: he shall be revenged by the blood of him that struck him.


Or being his enemy, strike him with his hand, and he die: the striker shall be guilty of murder. The kinsman of him that was slain, as soon as he findeth him, shall kill him.


That upon you may come all the just blood that hath been shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the just, even unto the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.


And hath made of one, all mankind, to dwell upon the whole face of the earth, determining appointed times, and the limits of their habitation.


But if any man hating his neighbour lie in wait for his life, and rise and strike him, and he die; and he flee to one of the cities aforesaid:


The ancients of his city shall send, and take him out of the place of refuge: and shall deliver him into the hand of the kinsman of him whose blood was shed. And he shall die.


And God repaid the evil, that Abimelech had done against his father, killing his seventy brethren.
