And Thare lived seventy years, and begot Abra, and Nachor, and Aran.


And these are the generations of Thare: Thare begot Abram, Nachor, and Aran. And Aran begot Lot.


And Abram and Nachor married wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai: and the name of Nachor's wife, Melcha, the daughter of Aran, father of Melcha, and father of Jescha.


Now when these things were done, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: Fear not, Abram, I am thy protector, and thy reward exceeding great.


Hus the firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Camuel the father of the Syrians.


And he took ten camels of his master's herd, and departed, carrying something of all his goods with him; and he set forth and went on to Mesopotamia to the city of Nachor.


He had not yet ended these words within himself, and, behold, Rebecca came out, the daughter of Bathuel, son of Melcha, wife to Nachor the brother of Abraham, having a pitcher on her shoulder.


And she answered: I am the daughter of Bathuel, the son of Melcha, whom she bore to Nachor.


The God of Abraham, and the God of Nachor, the God of their father, judge between us. And jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.


As cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good tidings from a far country.
