And the evening and the morning were the third day.


To shine in the firmament of heaven, and to give light upon the earth. And it was so done.


All the days of the earth, seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day, shall not cease.


I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me, and between the earth.


Is there any numbering of his soldiers? And upon whom shall not his light arise?


Behold, even the moon doth not shine, and the stars are not pure, in his sight.


Let the stars be darkened with the mist thereof: let it expect light and not see it, nor the rising of the dawning of the day:


Praise ye him, O sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars and light.


He hath established them for ever, and for ages of ages: he hath made a decree, and it shall not pass away.


Alleluia. Praise ye the Lord in his holy places: praise ye him in the firmament of his power.


Judge for the needy and fatherless: do justice to the humble and the poor.


Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these things, who bringeth out their host by number and calleth them all by their names. By the greatness of his might and strength and power, not one of them was missing.


Thus saith the Lord: Learn not according to the ways of the Gentiles: and be not afraid of the signs of heaven which the heathens fear:


Thus saith the Lord, who giveth the sun for the light of the day, the order of the moon and of the stars for the light of the night: who stirreth up the sea, and the waves thereof roar. The Lord of hosts is his name.


Thus saith the Lord: If my covenant with the day can be made void, and my covenant with the night, that there should not be day and night in their season:


Thus saith the Lord: If I have not set my covenant between day and night, and laws to heaven and earth:


Thus saith the Lord God: The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east, shall be shut the six days, on which work is done; but on the sabbath day it shall be opened, yea and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened.


And on the day of the new moon a calf of the herd without blemish: and the six lambs, and the rams shall be without blemish.


At their presence the earth hath trembled, the heavens are moved: the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars have withdrawn their shining.

Saying, Where is he that is born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to adore him.


And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be moved:


But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light.


And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.


Lest perhaps lifting up thy eyes to heaven thou see the sun and the moon, and all the stars of heaven, and being deceived by error thou adore and serve them, which the Lord thy God created for the service of all the nations, that are under heaven.


And I saw, when he had opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair: and the whole moon became as blood:


And the fourth angel sounded the trumpet, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day did not shine for a third part of it, and the night in like manner.


And he opened the bottomless pit: and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit.
