And Nathan said to David: Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: I anointed thee king over Israel; and I delivered thee from the hand of Saul,


Who bringest me forth from my enemies, and liftest me up from them that resist me. From the wicked man thou shalt deliver me.


In that day David made Asaph the chief to give praise to the Lord with his brethren.


Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.


Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.


Then Moses and the children of Israel sung this canticle to the Lord: and said: Let us sing to the Lord, for he is gloriously magnified: the horse and the rider he hath thrown into the sea.


Who hath delivered and doth deliver us out of so great dangers: in whom we trust that he will yet also deliver us.


Moses therefore spoke, in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel, the words of this canticle, and finished it even to the end.


The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.


In that day Debbora and Barac, son of Abinoem, sung, and said:


But David abode in the desert in strongholds; and he remained in a mountain of the desert of Ziph, in a woody hill. And Saul sought him always: but the Lord delivered him not into his hands.


After whom dost thou pursue? After a dead dog? After a flea?


For if a man at any time shall rise, and persecute thee, and seek thy life, the soul of my lord shall be kept, as in the bundle of the living, with the Lord thy God. But the souls of thy enemies shall be whirled, as with the violence and whirling of a sling.


And as thy life hath been much set by this day in my eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the Lord: and let him deliver me from all distress.


And David said in his heart: I shall one day or other fall into the hands of Saul. Is it not better for me to flee, and to be saved in the land of the Philistines, that Saul may despair of me, and cease to seek me in all the coasts of Israel? I will flee then out of his hands.
