And he made him go up into his second chariot, the crier proclaiming that all should bow their knee before him, and that they should know he was made governor over the whole land of Egypt.

And there was a famine in the days of David for three years successively: and David consulted the oracle of the Lord. And the Lord said: It is for Saul, and his bloody house, because he slew the Gabaonites.


Ira the Jethrite, Gareb also a Jethrite,


And Banaias the son of Joiada was over the Cerethi and Phelethi: and the sons of David were the princes.


Azarias the son of Nathan, over them that were about the king: Zabud, the son of Nathan the priest, the king's friend:


Ira a Jethrite, Gareb a Jethrite,


And the singers the sons of Asaph stood in their order, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Idithun, the prophets of the king. And the porters kept guard at every gate, so as not to depart one moment from their service. And therefore their brethren the Levites prepared meats for them.


But he answered: Who hath appointed thee prince and judge over us: wilt thou kill me, as thou didst yesterday kill the Egyptian? Moses feared, and said: How is this come to be known?


And the priest of Madian had seven daughters, who came to draw water: and when the troughs were filled, desired to water their father's flocks.


Neither did he lay his hand upon those of the children of Israel, that retired afar off. And they saw God, and they did eat and drink.


Jair the son of Manasses possessed all the country of Argob unto the borders of Gessuri, and Machati. And he called Basan by his own name, Havoth Jair: that is to say, the towns of Jair, until this present day.
