Because Manasses king of Juda hath done these most wicked abominations, beyond all that the Amorrhites did before him, and hath made Juda also to sin with his filthy doings:


Moreover Manasses shed also very much innocent blood, till he filled Jerusalem up to the mouth: besides his sins, wherewith he made Juda to sin, to do evil before the Lord.


But yet the Lord turned not away from the wrath of his great indignation, wherewith his anger was kindled against Juda: because of the provocations, wherewith Manasses had provoked him.


But the rest of the acts of Joakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda? And Joakim slept with his fathers.


And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly: and their cattle he suffered not to decrease.


Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,


And I will give them up to the rage of all the kingdoms of the earth: because of Manasses the son of Ezechias the king of Juda, for all that he did in Jerusalem.


Because they have forsaken me and have profaned this place and have sacrificed therein to strange gods, whom neither they nor their fathers knew, nor the kings of Juda. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocents.


And in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor and innocent? Not in ditches have I found them, but in all places which I mentioned before.


But thy eyes and thy heart are set upon covetousness and upon shedding innocent blood and upon oppression and running after evil works.


For this city hath been to me a provocation and indignation from the day that they built it until this day in which it shall be taken out of my sight.


Nun. We have done wickedly and provoked thee to wrath: therefore thou art inexorable.


And thou shalt shew her all her abominations and shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God: This is the city that sheddeth blood in the midst of her, that her time may come: and that hath made idols against herself, to defile herself.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose rust is in it, and its rust is not gone out of it. Cast it out piece by piece there hath no lot fallen upon it.


And that I might bring my indignation upon her and take my vengeance, I have shed her blood upon the smooth rock, that it should not be covered.


Therefore say to them: Thus saith the Lord God, You that eat with the blood and lift up your eyes to your uncleannesses, and that shed blood: shall you possess the land by inheritance?


Defile not the land of your habitation, which is stained with the blood of the innocent. Neither can it otherwise be expiated, but by his blood that hath shed the blood of another.


That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess: lest thou be guilty of blood.


And when he shall hear the words of this oath, he should bless himself in his heart, saying: I shall have peace, and will walk on in the naughtiness of my heart; and the drunken may consume the thirsty.
