And tearing his garments, he put on sackcloth, mourning for his son a long time.


And he walked with God, and was seen no more: because God took him.


Now Eliseus was sick of the illness whereof he died. And Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept before him, and said: O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the guider thereof.


And he took up the mantle of Elias, that fell from him: and going back, he stood upon the bank of the Jordan,


His servants came to him, and said to him: Father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, surely thou shouldst have done it. How much rather what he now hath said to thee: Wash, and thou shalt he clean?


And the king of Israel said to Eliseus, when he saw them: My father, shall I kill them?


The innocent shall be saved: and he shall be saved by the cleanness of his hands.


By the blessing of the just the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the wicked it shall be overthrown.


Who hath ascended up into heaven, and descended? who hath held the wind in his hands? who hath bound up the waters together as in a garment? who hath raised up all the borders of the earth? what is his name, and what is the name of his son, if thou knowest?


It is good that thou shouldst hold up the just, yea and from him withdraw not thy hand: for he that feareth God, neglecteth nothing.


And Ezechias prayed to the Lord, saying:


And Isaias the son of Amos sent to Ezechias, saying: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: For the prayer thou hast made to me concerning Sennacherib the king of the Assyrians:


It may be the Lord thy God will hear the words of Rabsaces, whom the king of the Assyrians his master hath sent to blaspheme the living God and to reproach with words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.


And the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God.

And when he had said these things, while they looked on, he was raised up: and a cloud received him out of their sight.


Saying: Fear not, Paul, thou must be brought before Caesar; and behold, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.


And devout men took order for Stephen's funeral, and made great mourning over him.


For in this also we groan, desiring to be clothed upon with our habitation that is from heaven.


For we also, who are in this tabernacle, do groan, being burthened; because we would not be unclothed, but clothed upon, that that which is mortal may be swallowed up by life.


Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive; he gave gifts to men.


And they heard a great voice from heaven, saying to them: Come up hither. And they went up to heaven in a cloud: and their enemies saw them.


And Michas said: Stay with me, and be unto me a father and a priest; and I will give thee every year ten pieces of silver, and a double suit of apparel, and thy victuals.
