And the Lord had mercy on them, and returned to them because of his covenant, which he had made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And he would not destroy them, nor utterly cast them away, unto this present time.


And the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Benadad the son of Hazael, all days.


And Joachaz had no more left of the people than fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen: for the king of Syria had slain them, and had brought them low as dust by threshing in the barnfloor.


In the days of Phacee king of Israel came Theglathphalasar king of Assyria, and took Aion, and Abel Domum Maacha and Janoe, and Cedes, and Asor, and Galaad, and Galilee, and all the land of Nephtali: and carried them captives into Assyria.


And they rejected his ordinances and the covenant that he made with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified against them. And they followed vanities, and acted vainly. And they followed the nations that were round about them, concerning which the Lord had commanded them that they should not do as they did.


And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from his sight: and there remained only the tribe of Juda.


In the fourth year of king Ezechias, which was the seventh year of Osee the son of Ela, king of Israel, Salmanasar king of the Assyrians came up to Samaria, and besieged it,


And I will leave the remnants of my inheritance, and will deliver them into the hands of their enemies. And they shall become a prey, and a spoil to all their enemies.


And the Lord said: I will remove Juda also from before my face, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the house, of which I said: My name shall be there.


And this came by the word of the Lord against Juda, to remove them from before him, for all the sins of Manasses which he did:


O ye seed of Israel his servants: ye children of Jacob his chosen.


And the seed of the children of Israel separated themselves from every stranger: and they stood, and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.


For strangers have risen up against me; and the mighty have sought after my soul: and they have not set God before their eyes.


So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.


For thou hast cast off thy people, the house of Jacob: because they are filled as in times past, and have had soothsayers as the Philistines, and have adhered to strange children.


Therefore shall he say: In the Lord are my justices and empire; they shall come to him, and all that resist him shall be confounded.


And the Lord said to me: If Moses and Samuel shall stand before me, my soul is not towards this people. Cast them out from my sight and let them go forth.


And thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith the Lord: because I am with thee. For I will consume all the nations to which I have cast thee out: but thee I will not consume. But I will correct thee in judgment: neither will I spare thee, as if thou wert innocent.


For the wrath of the Lord was against Jerusalem and against Juda, till he cast them out from his presence: and Sedecias revolted from the king of Babylon.


Call them reprobate silver, for the Lord hath rejected them.


And I will cast you away from before my face, as I have cast away all your brethren, the whole seed of Ephraim.


And she conceived again, and bore a daughter, and he said to him: Call her name, Without mercy: for I will not add any more to have mercy on the house of Israel, but I will utterly forget them.


In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel.

Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels.


And the Lord thy God doth always visit it: and his eyes are on it from the beginning of the year unto the end thereof.


And he said: I will hide my face from them, and will consider what their last end shall be. For it is a perverse generation, and unfaithful children.


Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his power:


Know ye for a certainty that the Lord your God will not destroy them before your face: but they shall be a pit and a snare in your way, and a stumbling-block at your side, and stakes in your eyes, till he take you away and destroy you from off this excellent land, which he hath given you.


And they set up to themselves the graven idol: and Jonathan the son of Gersam the son of Moses, he and his sons were priests in the tribe of Dan, until the day of their captivity.


And the Lord being angry against Israel, delivered them into the hands of plunderers: who took them and sold them to their enemies, that dwelt round about. Neither could they stand against their enemies:


Because it is like the sin of witchcraft, to rebel: and like the crime of idolatry, to refuse to obey. Forasmuch therefore as thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, the Lord hath also rejected thee from being king.


And Samuel said to Saul: I will not return with thee, because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.


And the Lord said to Samuel: How It long wilt thou mourn for Saul, whom I have rejected from reigning over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come, that I may send thee to Isai the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
