23 And the Lord had mercy on them, and returned to them because of his covenant, which he had made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And he would not destroy them, nor utterly cast them away, unto this present time.

But have regard to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplications, O Lord my God. Hear the hymn and the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee this day:


And Hazael king of Syria died, and Benadad his son reigned in his stead.


But Joachaz besought the face of the Lord; and the Lord heard him, for he saw the distress of Israel, because the king of Syria had oppressed them.


For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel that it was exceeding bitter, and that they were consumed even to them that were shut up in prison, and the lowest persons, and that there was no one to help Israel.


And the Lord did not say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joas.


And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from his sight: and there remained only the tribe of Juda.


And the Lord cast off all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, till he cast them away from his face:


Till the Lord removed Israel from his face, as he had spoken in the hand of all his servants the prophets. And Israel was carried away out of their land to Assyria, unto this day.


For the Lord was angry against Jerusalem and against Juda, till he cast them out from his face. And Sedecias revolted from the king of Babylon.


And he saved them for his own name's sake: that he might make his power known.


And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness.


I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.


He answered: I will shew thee all good, and I will proclaim in the name of the Lord before thee: And I will have mercy on whom I will, and I will be merciful to whom it shall please me.


And when I shall have plucked them out, I will return and have mercy on them: and I will bring them back, every man to his inheritance and every man to his land.


Caph. For if he hath cast off, he will also have mercy, according to the multitude of his mercies.


And I will remember my covenant, that I made with Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham. I will remember also the land:


Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels.


The Lord will judge his people, and will have mercy on his servants. He shall see that their hand is weakened, and that they who were shut up have also failed, and they that remained are consumed.


Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord, and from the glory of his power:


And saying these things, they cast away out of their coasts all the idols of strange gods and served the Lord their God. And he was touched with their miseries.
