He that hath mercy on the poor, lendeth to the Lord: and he will repay him.


And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.


Neither do you consider that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.


But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.


Now Caiphas was he who had given the counsel to the Jews: That it was expedient that one man should die for the people.


All things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.


On the first day of the week let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him; that when I come, the collections be not then to be made.


All things are lawful to me, but all things are not expedient. All things are lawful to me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.


Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord; but I give counsel, as having obtained mercy of the Lord, to be faithful.


But more blessed shall she be, if she so remain, according to my counsel; and I think that I also have the spirit of God.


If I must glory (it is not expedient indeed): but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.


Insomuch, that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so also he would finish among you this same grace.


I speak not as commanding; but by the carefulness of others, approving also the good disposition of your charity.


For I know your forward mind: for which I boast of you to the Macedonians. That Achaia also is ready from the year past, and your emulation hath provoked very many.


Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that may abound to your account.


And do not forget to do good, and to impart; for by such sacrifices God's favour is obtained.
