A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.


Every way of a man seemeth right to himself: but the Lord weigheth the hearts.


Let another praise thee, and not thy own mouth: a stranger, and not thy own lips.


And he said to them: You are they who justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts; for that which is high to men, is an abomination before God.


For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.


Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:


For he that in this serveth Christ, pleaseth God, and is approved of men.


Salute Apelles, approved in Christ.


But he is a Jew, that is one inwardly; and the circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.


For there must be also heresies: that they also, who are approved, may be made manifest among you.


Therefore judge not before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise from God.


For we dare not match, or compare ourselves with some, that commend themselves; but we measure ourselves by ourselves, and compare ourselves with ourselves.


Now we pray God, that you may do no evil, not that we may appear approved, but that you may do that which is good, and that we may be as reprobates.


Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need (as some do) epistles of commendation to you, or from you?


We commend not ourselves again to you, but give you occasion to glory in our behalf; that you may have somewhat to answer them who glory in face, and not in heart.


But in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses,


Carefully study to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.


That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
