thou hast corrected man for iniquity. And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider: surely in vain is any man disquieted.


And Pharao's servants said to him: How long shall we endure this scandal? Let the men go to sacrifice to the Lord their God. Dost thou not see that Egypt is undone?


A man that speaketh to his friend with flattering and dissembling words, spreadeth a net for his feet.


For among my people are found wicked men that lie in wait as fowlers, setting snares and traps to catch men.


Their tongue is a piercing arrow: it hath spoken deceit. With his mouth one speaketh peace with his friend, and secretly he lieth in wait for him.


And Saul said to David: Behold my elder daughter Merob: her will I give thee to wife. Only be a valiant man, and fight the battles of the Lord. Now Saul said within himself: Let not my hand be upon him; but let the hands of the Philistines be upon him.


And Saul commanded his servants to speak to David privately, saying: Behold, thou pleasest the king; and all his servants love thee. Now therefore be the king's son-in-law.


And when his servants had told David the words that Saul had said, the word was pleasing in the eyes of David to be the king's son-in-law.
