And he went on prospering and growing up: and the Lord God of hosts was with him.


And the Lord was with Josaphat: because he walked in the first ways of David his father; and trusted not in Baalim,


I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.


For strangers have risen up against me; and the mighty have sought after my soul: and they have not set God before their eyes.


And though they should bring up their children, I will make them without children among men: yea, and woe to them, when I shall depart from them.


Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels.


For Herod feared John, knowing him to be a just and holy man: and kept him, and when he heard him, did many things: and he heard him willingly.


And all the multitude of the country of the Gerasens besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear. And he, going up into the ship, returned back again.


And as he treated of justice, and chastity, and of the judgment to come, Felix being terrified, answered: For this time, go thy way: but when I have a convenient time, I will send for thee.


And the patriarchs, through envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him,


And the Lord was with Juda, and he possessed the hill country: but was not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, because they had many chariots armed with scythes.


And she said: The Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And awaking from sleep, he said in his mind: I will go out as I did before, and shake myself; not knowing that the Lord was departed from him.


And one of the servants answering, said: Behold, I have seen a son of Isai the Bethlehemite, a skilful player, and one of great strength, and a man fit for war, and prudent in his words, and a comely person. And the Lord is with him.


Then Samuel did as the Lord had said to him. And he came to Bethlehem, and the ancients of the city wondered, and meeting him they said: Is thy coming hither peaceable?


And Saul saw that he was exceeding prudent, and began to beware of him.


But Michol the other daughter of Saul loved David. And it was told Saul, and it pleased him.


And Saul began to fear David more: and Saul became David's enemy continually.


May the Lord do so and so to Jonathan, and add still more. But if my father shall continue in malice against thee, I will discover it to thy ear; and will send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace, and the Lord be with thee, as he hath been with my father.


And Saul said to him: Why have you conspired against me, thou, and the son of Isai. And thou hast given him bread and a sword, and hast consulted the Lord for him, that he should rise up against me, continuing a traitor to this day.


And Samuel said to Saul: Why hast thou disturbed my rest, that I should be brought up? And Saul said: I am in great distress; for the Philistines fight against me; and God is departed from me; and would not hear me, neither by the hand of prophets, nor by dreams. Therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest shew me what I shall do.


And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him: and not one of his words fell to the ground.
