He also put out the eyes of Sedecias: and bound him with fetters, to be carried to Babylon.


Thou hast brought us indeed into a land that floweth with rivers of milk and honey, and hast given us possessions of fields and vineyards. Wilt thou also pull out our eyes? We will not come.


Then the Philistines seized upon him, and forthwith pulled out his eyes; and led him bound in chains to Gaza; and shutting him up in prison made him grind.


And they said: In the morning we will come out to you; and you shall do what you please with us.


But seeing that Naas king of the children of Ammon was come against you, you said to me: Nay, but a king shall reign over us: whereas the Lord your God was your king.


And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying: What shall be given to the man that shall kill this Philistine, and shall take away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
