And to his son I will give one tribe: that there may remain a lamp for my servant David before me always in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen, that my name might be there.


That thy eyes may be open upon this house night and day; upon the house of which thou hast said: My name shall be there. That thou mayest hearken to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth in this place to thee.


And the Lord said: I will remove Juda also from before my face, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the house, of which I said: My name shall be there.


Now that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:


But the Lord God of Israel chose me of all the house of my father, to be king over Israel for ever. For of Juda he chose the princes: and of the house of Juda, my father's house: and among the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me king over all Israel.


But if you return to me, and keep my commandments, and do them, though you should be led away to the uttermost parts of the world, I will gather you from thence, and bring you back to the place which I have chosen for my name to dwell there.


Turn not man away to be brought low: and thou hast said: Be converted, O ye sons of men.


Go ye to my place in Silo, where my name dwelt from the beginning: and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.


In the place, which the Lord your God shall choose, that his name may be therein. Thither shall you bring all the things that I command you: holocausts, and victims, and tithes, and the first-fruits of your hands, and whatsoever is the choicest in the gifts which you shall vow to the Lord.


But you shall come to the place, which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, and to dwell in it.


And the Lord said to Samuel: How It long wilt thou mourn for Saul, whom I have rejected from reigning over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil, and come, that I may send thee to Isai the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
