And after these things, Naboth the Jezrahelite, who was in Jezrahel, had at that time a vineyard near the palace of Achab king of Samaria.


And it came to pass when Jezabel heard that Naboth was stoned and dead, that she said to Achab: Arise and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezrahelite, who would not agree with thee, and give it thee for money. For Naboth is not alive, but dead.


And the word of the Lord came to Elias the Thesbite, saying:


And when he was come, and now it was the evening, he took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and sent the men away. And they departed.


And Joram said: Make ready the chariot. And they made ready his chariot, and Joram king of Israel, and Ochozias king of Juda went out, each in his chariot. And they went out to meet Jehu: and met him in the field of Naboth the Jezrahelite.


For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted.


He that walketh in justices and speaketh truth, that casteth away avarice by oppression and shaketh his hands from all bribes, that stoppeth his ears lest he hear blood and shutteth his eyes that he may see no evil.


Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.


Leaving the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,
