Tobit 3:6 - Contemporary English Version Interconfessional Edition

6 Do whatever you want with me! Take away my life. Send my body to the grave, and set me free from life on earth. I would rather die than to live in such suffering and great sorrow, listening to insults I don't deserve. Set me free; take me away to my eternal place. But please, Lord, don't turn your back on me.

Common English Bible

6 “And now, deal with me as you wish. Command that my spirit be taken from me so that I might be set free from the earth and become dust. It is better for me to die than to live, for I have heard false insults, and I’m full of grief. Lord, command that I might be set free from this distress. Set me free to go to the eternal place. Don’t turn your face from me, Lord, for it is better for me to die than to experience this distress in my life and to endure insults.”

Good News Translation (US Version)

6 “Now treat me as you please. Take my life away and free me from this world; let my body return to the earth. I would be better off dead. I am tormented by insults I don't deserve, and weighed down with despair. Lord, give the command— bring all my troubles to an end, take me to my eternal rest. Don't reject my prayer. I would rather die than live in misery and face such cruel insults.”

World English Bible - American English Edition - without Strong's Numbers

6 Now deal with me according to that which is pleasing in your sight. Command my spirit to be taken from me, that I may be released, and become earth. For it is more profitable for me to die rather than to live, because I have heard false reproaches, and there is much sorrow in me. Command that I be released from my distress, now, and go to the everlasting place. Don’t turn your face away from me.”
