So I stationed the people in order, in places behind the wall, all around it, with their swords, and lances, and bows.


Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying: "Come, and let us strike a pact together in the villages, on the plain of Ono." But they were thinking that they would do me harm.


Then they sent to me, with this same word, four times. And I responded to them with the same word as before.


The innocent trust every word. The astute one considers his own steps. Nothing good will be for the deceitful son. But the wise servant shall act prosperously and his way will be set in order.


Whatever your hand is able to do, do it earnestly. For neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge will exist in death, toward which you are hurrying.


Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be as prudent as serpents and as simple as doves.


saying: 'This man began to build what he was not able to finish.'


I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day: the night is coming, when no one is able to work.
