Abram responded to her by saying, "Behold, your handmaid is in your hand to treat as it pleases you." And so, when Sarai afflicted her, she took flight.


"The lord of the land spoke harshly to us, and he considered us to be scouts of the province.


and he had recognized them, he spoke harshly, as if to foreigners, questioning them: "Where did you come from?" And they responded, "From the land of Canaan, to buy necessary provisions."


And the men of Israel responded to the men of Judah, and said: "I have the greater amount, ten parts, with the king, and so David belongs to me more so than to you. Why have you caused me injury, and why was it not announced to me first, so that I might lead back my king?" But the men of Judah answered more firmly than the men of Israel.


Therefore, Jeroboam and all the people went to Rehoboam on the third day, just as the king had spoken, saying, "Return to me on the third day."


And he spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying: "My father weighed down your yoke, but I will add more to your yoke. My father cut you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions."


And Pharaoh said to Moses: "Withdraw from me, and beware that you no longer see my face. On whatever day you will appear in my sight, you shall die."


But he responded: "Who is the Lord, that I should listen to his voice and release Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not release Israel."


The mouth of the just is a vein of life. And the mouth of the impious covers iniquity.


The lips of the just consider what is acceptable. And the mouth of the impious considers perversities.


Whoever keeps step with the wise shall be wise. A friend of the foolish will become like them.


A mild response shatters anger. But a harsh word stirs up fury.


The poor will speak with supplications. And the rich will express themselves roughly.


Words from the mouth of a wise man are graceful, but the lips of a foolish man will throw him down with violence.


though I know not whether he will be wise or foolish. And yet he will have power over my labors, in which I have toiled and been anxious. And is there anything else so empty?


But within the wisdom that is from above, certainly, chastity is first, and next peacefulness, meekness, openness, consenting to what is good, a plenitude of mercy and good fruits, not judging, without falseness.


And David responded to Jonathan, "Who will repeat it to me, if your father may perhaps answer you harshly about me?"
