But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.


In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.


By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.


He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.


He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.


He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.


And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things; and they scoffed at him.


And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought:


who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:


Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, that thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out now, I pray, and fight with them.


But certain worthless fellows said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no present. But he held his peace.
