And he fixed his gaze and stared at him, until he was embarrassed. And the man of God wept.


My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your law.


I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands.


Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, who forsake your law.


Therefore I said: “Look away from me; let me weep bitter tears; do not labor to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”


For the Lord will rise up as on Mount Perazim; as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused; to do his deed—strange is his deed! and to work his work—alien is his work!


But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride; my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.


I have not run away from being your shepherd, nor have I desired the day of sickness. You know what came out of my lips; it was before your face.


Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!


How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.
