Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die,


Then the king said to Joab, “Behold now, I grant this; go, bring back the young man Absalom.”


It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.


And the men of Israel had been hard pressed that day, so Saul had laid an oath on the people, saying, “Cursed be the man who eats food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies.” So none of the people had tasted food.


Then he said to all Israel, “You shall be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side.” And the people said to Saul, “Do what seems good to you.”


And Saul said, “God do so to me and more also; you shall surely die, Jonathan.”


And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.”


For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Therefore send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.”


And the king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”


But Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.”
