Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

It is the Spirit who makes alive; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

"Therefore immediately I sent to you, and you have done well to come. Now then we are all present before God, to hear all the things having been commanded you by God."

"Men, brothers, sons of the race of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the message of this salvation has been sent.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes, both to the Jew first and to the Greek.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and became a partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

But thanks be to God, that though you used to be slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from your heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

through which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain.

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

in whom also you, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, just as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

Because of this we also give thanks to God unceasingly, so that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you received not the word of men, but just as it truly is, the word of God, which also is at work in you who believe.

For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men,

So therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every impediment, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which in the beginning was spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

For indeed we have had the gospel preached to us just as those also; but the word which they heard did not profit those, not having been mixed with faith in those having heard it.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

let him know that he who turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere love for the brothers, love one another fervently from a pure heart,

obtaining for yourselves the outcome your faith--the salvation of your souls.

Therefore having put away all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all slanders,

Beloved, I implore you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from the lusts of the flesh which war against the soul;
