The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.


And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?”


And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.”


And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, so that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene.


And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”


And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.”


And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”


And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”


And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.”


“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”


And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read.


Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”


Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”


Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee?


They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” [The earliest manuscripts do not include 7:53–8:11.]


for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and will change the customs that Moses delivered to us.”


“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
