For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet—


My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.


More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore?


When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.


Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,


So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”


And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.


Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God,


As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard and to provoke him to speak about many things,


But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.


When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.


The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.”


They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”


This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.


Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee?


They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” [The earliest manuscripts do not include 7:53–8:11.]


you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed:


And when the dissension became violent, the tribune, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him away from among them by force and bring him into the barracks.


When they heard this, they were enraged and wanted to kill them.


Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him.


But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him.
