God saw the earth, and indeed it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.


Therefore YHWH brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.


Hᴇ also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.


I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.


Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.


What more could have been done to my vineyard, that I have not done for it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it make stink berries?


For he said, “Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely;” so he became their Savior.


But they didn’t listen or turn their ear. Instead they made their neck stiff, so that they would not hear or receive instruction.

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “YHWH, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you will go out to the officers of the king of Babylon, then your life will be spared, and this city will not be burned with fire. You and your house will live.


Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.”


then I will cause y’all to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to y’all’s ancestors, from long ago to forever.


I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. None of them repents of their wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to their course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.


They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.


She didn’t obey the voice. She didn’t receive correction. She didn’t trust in YHWH. She didn’t draw near to her God.


so that y’all don’t corrupt yourselves* and make a idol in the form of any figure. This includes the likeness of male or female,


But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith.


The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness. Rather ʜᴇ is patient with us, not wishing anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
