Onan knew that the offspring wouldn’t be his. So when he went in to his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground, so that he would not give offspring to his brother.


She laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.


For he flatters himself in his own eyes, too much to detect and hate his sin.


Y’all who are naive, gain discernment! Y’all fools, gain an understanding heart!


Y’all must leave your naive ways in order to live. Y’all are to walk in the way of understanding.”


He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside; and he can’t deliver his soul, nor say, “Isn’t there a lie in my right hand?”


The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’


He answered, ‘I will not,’ but later he changed his mind, and went.


He said, “Y’all watch out that you* don’t get led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Y’all must not follow them.


Jesus answered them, “Very truly I tell y’all, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.


Just as y’all were disobedient to God in time past, but now y’all have been shown mercy because of their disobedience,


Therefore y’all must not allow sin reign in your* mortal body which leads to obeying its desires.


But thanks be to God that though y’all were slaves of sin, you* obeyed from the heart the pattern of teaching to which y’all were committed.


But now, having been liberated from sin and enslaved to God, y’all have the fruit of sanctification and the outcome of eternal life.


We know that our old humanity was crucified with him, so that the body of sin was rendered inactive, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.


For I am afraid that when I come, I might not find y’all the way I want, and y’all might not find me as y’all want. Perhaps there will be infighting, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder,


For if anyone thinks they are something when they are nothing, they deceive themselves.


Although y’all were formerly alienated and enemies in y’all’s minds through evil deeds,


Y’all also once walked in these ways, when y’all were living in them,


But evil humans and charlatans will advance from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.


For some among them creep into houses and captivate gullible women overwhelmed by sins and led away by a variety of desires,


They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny ʜɪᴍ. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.


instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live moderately, righteously, and reverently in this present age,


If anyone thinks of themself as religious but doesn’t bridle their tongue, they deceive their own heart and their religion is worthless.


As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires y’all had when y’all were ignorant,


The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.


It deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs it was given to do in presence of the beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth that they should make an image of the beast who had the sword wound but lived.


He cried with a mighty sound, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean bird and detestable beast!
