Since the harbor was not suitable for staying through winter, the majority decided to continue sailing from there, hoping to reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete, facing southwest and northwest, and winter there.

But let all these things be done decently and in order.

The things you have heard from me among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful humans who will be able then to teach others.


One of their very own prophets said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and lazy gluttons.”
